# Chinchero Mestana Mesa Cloth M48-C - Red/Green/Blue - Shamanic Altar & Ceremonial Cloth

## Chinchero Mestana Mesa Cloth M48-C • Andean Personal Altar & Medicine Bundle Cloth

Fresh from the loom and unused in ceremony, this **Chinchero Mestana Mesa Cloth** is a finely woven Andean textile created for the intimate work of building a personal mesa, altar or medicine bundle.

Woven predominantly from fine alpaca yarn with sheep wool, it has a softer touch and more fluid drape than many heavier traditional cloths. Rich reds, blues and shifting Andean tones move through the weave, reflecting a textile tradition in which colour, pattern, landscape, family and ceremony are deeply connected.

A mestana can become the outer skin of a personal altar. Within it may be gathered khuyas, altar stones, inherited pieces, offerings and objects connected with particular people, places, teachers or experiences.

The outer mestana may be paired with a smaller **unkuna or wachala** inner cloth. Together, these layers are often understood within contemporary Andean ceremonial teachings as reflecting the relationship between our inner and outer worlds — what we carry privately and the wider world through which we move.

Once wrapped, the bundle may be secured with a **mesa tie or decorative beaded Inti Santana-style tie**, gathering the cloths, stones and personal objects together into one complete medicine bundle.

#### A Personal Altar Woven to Be Carried

One of the most beautiful qualities of a mesa is that it does not need to remain fixed in one place.

It can be opened as an altar, worked with in prayer, meditation, ceremony or reflection, then carefully wrapped again so everything inside remains held together.

Over time, the cloth itself becomes part of the life of the bundle.

A stone gathered beside a river may sit alongside one connected with a mountain. An object received from a teacher may rest beside something inherited from family. A shell, offering, feather or symbolic piece may slowly find its place.

The mesa becomes less a collection of things and more a map of relationships.
