Stoneware Noir/black Graphite bowl. This bowl with its intriguing look is used for creating a 'Grief Altar'.
A Grief Altar is said to draw out and remove negative energy from an individual or an environment. Grief can turn up as many shapes and sizes, perhaps its a loss of a loved one or the loss of a time, it can be named and not named as it relates to you, an other or a place. Setting a grief altar up can give an honouring, a thanks to allow something to be acknowledged allowing it to move on. You can bring pictures to the altar and flowers to pay thanks. Great to do around Samhain (Halloween) as known in the northern hemisphere or the day of the dead as known in many countires of South America.
There are lots of ways to create a Grief Altar. A very simple way is to set your intention to firstly do this. Lay a black cloth down. Filling the bowl half full of sea salt, dead sea, himilayan or epsom salt works best. Then filling the bowl 3/4 full with spring water. The bowl is placed on the cloth in the environment it is to be used in with one or two candles. The salt can be topped up but each day the water level must be checked and topped up.
The altar is not set up for any particular time but until its done or required again.
