Dharma Buddha - The sitting Buddha is called the Dharma Budda. One hand is in the gesture called turning the wheel of the law, a metaphor for teaching the way to enlightenment. The other hand remains as in meditation. The halo has a lotus, symbol of purity, on one side and a Dharma chakra ( wheel of law) on the other. The wheel of law is a symbol of the buddha's teaching.

OM is the sound Brahma (the hindu creator of the universe) used to manifest all of existence. The word OM is also used as a MANTRA: a sacred sound that invokes the divine power in all things. To utter the sacred syllable OM is to connect with the power which created the universe itself.
