The Nazca Lines are a vast collection of ancient geoglyphs located in the Nazca Desert of southern Peru, approximately 250 miles south of Lima.

Created between 500 BCE and 500 CE by the Nazca culture, these enormous designs — depicting animals, plants and geometric forms — were etched into the desert floor by removing surface stones to reveal lighter earth beneath.

They are widely regarded as sacred and ceremonial in nature and remain one of the most fascinating archaeological sites in the world.

The carved motifs on these gourds draw inspiration from Nazca glyph forms and sacred geometry associated with the region.

Each piece carries the spirit of desert simplicity and symbolic depth.

A shamanic rattle is a traditional percussion instrument used in ceremony, healing practices, and journeying traditions across many indigenous cultures. The rhythmic sound of the rattle is used to focus attention, clear energy, and guide meditative or trance states. In Amazonian traditions such as the Shipibo culture, gourd rattles filled with seeds are commonly used by shamans during healing ceremonies, prayer, and spiritual work.

Despite its larger size, this gourd produces a soft, rounded tone rather than a harsh or sharp sound.

It may be used for:

Its tone is grounding and steady — suitable for both personal and group ceremonial environments.

These maracas are part of a long-standing artisan tradition in Peru. The carving and sale of gourds contributes to local trading economies and supports regional craftsmanship.

Gourd rattles, maracas and jungle shakers belong to the hand percussion family and are used widely in ritual, music and celebration across cultures.

We select the pieces we stock specifically for their suitability within meditative and ceremonial contexts.
