Peruvian incense originates from Central and South America, and in particular Peru. It has a history that dates back centuries and that is intertwined with ancient traditions, shamanic rituals, and the connection between humans and the divine. This type of incense is known for its cleansing and purifying properties, and we love to bring Peruvian incense into our daily rituals or during times of change where we want to cleanse our home, or to calm stressors. And we all have plenty of those in the modern world!
Peruvian incense holds its roots in the indigenous cultures that have flourished in the Andean region. It has been a key element in various spiritual practices, from ancient Inca ceremonies to contemporary Andean rituals. It has deep associations with the natural world, as well as connection with the living and spiritual world. Sacred herbs are carefully chosen for their purifying and energy-clearing properties, creating a unique blend that can bring many positive benefits like creating a sacred space, promoting creativity, reducing stress and anxiety.

How to use Peruvian incense
There are many reasons for using Peruvian incense, and its a personal experience, so while we can guide you on how to use it its always good to explore ways in which it works for you. We like to approach incense with intentions, making the whole process into an event. Taking that moment to be present, and enjoying the physical process.
Here's what we look to do;
Choose a meaningful setting

Choose a quiet and peaceful space where you can focus on the ritual without distractions. Consider dimming the lights to really concentrate on the process. You may like to build a small altar and include crystals or you may simply want to cleanse an area of your home where you feel there is some negative energy.
Set your intentions
Take a moment to set a positive intention. Whether it's for meditation, energy cleansing, or spiritual connection, clarifying your purpose can help to bring the right energy to the moment. Clearing your mind, concentrating on that intention can help to calm and bring focus.
Lighting the Incense
Carefully light the tip of the incense stick or resin using a match or lighter. Allow the flame to burn for a few seconds, then gently blow it out, leaving a smouldering ember. This can be gently placed in a sacred bowl or dish, or you can bring the energy to your space by gently waving it around the room.
Experience the incense
As the incense begins to release its fragrant smoke, focus on the scent, and let it surround you. Take deep, mindful breaths, allowing the aroma to calm your mind and elevate your spirit. Engage with your ritual, gentle meditation, Yoga or simple relaxation.
Meditate or Reflect

Use the aromatic atmosphere to engage in meditation, prayer, or self-reflection. The calming properties of Peruvian incense can enhance your connection to the present moment and deepen your spiritual practice.
Once lit we especially like to wave the smoke around the room or over specific objects to purify and cleanse the energy. We use it to create a tranquil ambiance, promoting a sense of calm and connection. Experiment with different scents and blends to find the one that resonates best with your personal preferences and intentions. We have many options here.
