Welcome to Sacred Essence — a home for the Mind, Body & Soul
Nestled between mountain and lake in the heart of the Lake District, Sacred Essence has been part of the UK’s holistic and spiritual community since 2006.
Founded by Annie and Simon, our journey began with a shared wish to create a space where people could pause, reconnect, and rediscover the sacred within everyday life.
Annie’s experience in healing and teaching met Simon’s creativity and love of community, blending into a shared vision of balance and beauty.
In those early years, our small shop was filled with the scent of sandalwood and sage, shelves lined with stones that shimmered in the sunlight through the old windows. Locals would wander in for a chat, travellers would find a talisman to carry home, and together we built something more than a store — we built a sanctuary.
Today, we remain a family-run, fair-trade shop offering healing crystals, incense & smudge sticks, tarot cards, and many other spiritual gifts. Each piece we choose carries energy, purpose, and the story of its maker.

Our Journey
It all began with a book. When Annie first opened Dr Alberto Villoldo’s “The Four Winds Society - Shaman Healer Sage,” something stirred — a memory, a calling, a sense of homecoming. Simon, always open to new ideas but grounded in the practical, joined her on this exploration of the soul.
Together they studied at The Four Winds Society, learning how energy, intention, and nature interweave. Their studies led them to Peru, where mountains touch the clouds and wisdom is shared through story,
ritual, and craft. They met artisans and shamans whose hands shaped not only materials but meaning — each weaving and carving infused with reverence.
When they returned to England, they unpacked their treasures at the kitchen
table: hand-woven cloths, small drums, fragrant herbs, sacred stones. The energy in those items was palpable. Friends who visited felt calmer, lighter — connected. That moment became the seed from which Sacred Essence grew.
What began as two souls following intuition became a living bridge between artisan communities and spiritual seekers around the world. Every crystal, every piece of incense, every drum carries that same
connection — a reminder that we are part of something larger, something sacred.
We believe that true well-being embraces the whole self:

Our home is Coniston, a village surrounded by ancient forests and mirrored waters.
The Old Man of Coniston rises behind us, steady and grounding, while the lake lies just a short walk from our door. In early morning, mist curls above the water like prayer smoke, and by evening, the mountains turn soft shades of amethyst and gold.
This place breathes life into Sacred Essence. The rhythm of the seasons — the hush of winter, the vibrancy of spring — flows through everything we do. Visitors often tell us they feel a sense of peace the moment they step through our door. That isn’t by accident; it’s the energy of this land made tangible.
Whether you visit in person or online, our hope is that you feel that same tranquility and warmth — the sense that you’ve stepped into a space where time slows, and spirit feels close.

- Fair Trade: we trade directly with artisans in Peru, India, and Tibet — ensuring fair value and ongoing relationships. Our Peruvian weavings are hand-dyed, pot-dyed, hand-spun, and hand-woven.
- Ethical Practice: we source Palo Santo - About, only from reforestation projects supported by the Pachamama Alliance.
- Environmental Care: We avoid endangered feathers and honour wildlife protection.
- Global Connection: same-day UK dispatch before 3:00 pm, serving seekers near and far.
