Goloka White Sage Backflow Incense Cones 24 Pack • Waterfall Incense for Cleansing & Meditation

Goloka Nature’s White Sage Backflow Incense Cones combine a strong woody-herbaceous White Sage fragrance with the mesmerising cascading smoke effect of a waterfall incense burner.

Unlike ordinary dhoop or standard incense cones, backflow cones contain a hollow channel through the base. When placed correctly on a compatible backflow burner, the smoke is drawn downwards to create the familiar waterfall or mist-like effect.

White Sage is widely associated in contemporary spiritual practice with cleansing, meditation and preparation of sacred space, making these cones a popular choice for creating a calm and intentional atmosphere.

Cleansing. Atmospheric. Mesmerising.

White Sage Fragrance & Cleansing Use

White Sage has become widely associated with cleansing, purification, meditation and preparation of spiritual space.

The fragrance is strong, herbal and woody, creating a clear aromatic presence that works well before meditation, prayer, journalling, Reiki, yoga, breathwork or other reflective practices.

White Sage incense is often chosen for:

  • preparing a meditation or ritual space
  • creating a sense of energetic clearing
  • marking the beginning or end of spiritual work
  • supporting prayer and contemplation
  • refreshing the atmosphere of a home or workspace
  • creating a calmer, more intentional setting

White Sage also has cultural significance within particular Indigenous traditions of North America. Ceremonial practices differ between Nations and communities and should not be treated as one universal tradition.

These Goloka cones are fragranced incense for contemporary aromatic and spiritual use rather than traditionally harvested ceremonial White Sage itself.

How Backflow Incense Works & How to Use It

Backflow incense cones are formed with a hollow channel through their base. When the cone is lit and positioned correctly, cooled smoke travels down through this channel and into the burner, creating a cascading waterfall effect.

To use:

  • Place the burner on a stable, level and heat-resistant surface.
  • Light the tip of the cone.
  • Allow the flame to burn for around 4–8 seconds, or until the tip is glowing.
  • Gently blow out the flame.
  • Place the cone directly over the smoke opening in the backflow burner.
  • Allow several minutes for the downward smoke effect to develop.

For the best result, use indoors away from fans, open windows, air-conditioning vents or other draughts. Even light air movement can disturb the cascade and cause the smoke to rise or disperse.

Dhoop Cones vs Backflow Cones

Traditional dhoop or standard incense cones and backflow cones are designed differently.

Traditional dhoop cones:

  • normally produce smoke that rises
  • can be used with a standard heat-resistant incense holder
  • do not require a specialised waterfall burner
  • are mainly chosen for fragrance and traditional incense use

Backflow cones:

  • contain a hollow channel through the base
  • are designed for compatible backflow burners
  • allow smoke to travel downwards
  • create a decorative waterfall or mist effect

Although backflow cones are sometimes described as “backflow dhoop cones”, the hollow channel is the key feature that distinguishes them from ordinary solid cones.

Residue & Getting the Best Waterfall Effect

A light oily or aromatic residue can sometimes appear on the burner after backflow incense has been used. This is normal and occurs as incense smoke and aromatic particles cool and collect on the burner.

Always protect the furniture beneath your burner with a suitable heat-resistant mat or tray.

Once completely cool, the residue can usually be wiped away with a damp cloth.

If the waterfall effect is weak or the smoke is rising instead of falling, check that:

  • the cone is directly aligned with the burner opening
  • the burner is on a flat surface
  • there are no nearby draughts
  • the cone has had enough time to begin producing the cascade

White Sage for Meditation & Spiritual Practice

Watching the smoke descend can create a gentle visual focus for meditation and relaxation.

These cones are well suited to use before:

  • meditation
  • prayer
  • journalling
  • Reiki or energy work
  • yoga or breathwork
  • tarot or oracle readings
  • sound practice
  • personal cleansing rituals

A simple intention might be:

“May this space be clear, peaceful and ready for what comes next.”

The meaning comes from the ritual, intention and personal symbolism brought to the practice rather than from any guaranteed energetic effect.

Quick FAQs

How many cones are included?

The tin contains 24 Goloka White Sage backflow incense cones.

Do these cones create a waterfall effect?

Yes. They are specifically designed for use with compatible backflow incense burners.

Can I use backflow cones in a normal incense holder?

They can burn in a suitable heat-resistant holder, but the intended downward waterfall effect requires a compatible backflow burner.

Why does backflow incense smoke flow downwards?

The hollow channel through the cone allows cooled smoke to travel down into the matching opening of the burner.

How long does the waterfall effect take to start?

It normally develops after several minutes and may occasionally take up to around 10 minutes.

Why is the smoke rising instead of falling?

Check that the cone is correctly aligned with the burner opening and that the room is free from draughts. Air movement can disrupt the cascade.

What does White Sage incense smell like?

This fragrance is strong, woody and herbaceous, with the fresh aromatic character associated with White Sage incense.

Why does backflow incense leave residue?

As the smoke cools while travelling down the burner, aromatic particles can settle and leave a light oily residue. This is normal and can usually be wiped away once the burner has cooled.

Are backflow cones the same as dhoop cones?

No. Traditional dhoop cones normally allow smoke to rise, while backflow cones contain a hollow channel designed to direct smoke downwards through a waterfall burner.

Can White Sage incense cleanse negative energy?

Cleansing is a traditional and contemporary spiritual use associated with sage and incense practices. It is a symbolic or personal spiritual practice rather than a scientifically established effect.

Care & Safety

Always place the burner on a stable, heat-resistant surface and protect surrounding furniture from heat, ash and incense residue.

Burn in a well-ventilated room while avoiding strong draughts if you want to maintain the waterfall effect.

Never leave burning incense unattended. Keep away from curtains, paper, bedding and other flammable materials.

Keep out of reach of babies, children and pets, and take particular care around birds and anyone sensitive to smoke or fragrance.

Avoid directly inhaling concentrated incense smoke.

The cone and burner can remain hot after burning. Allow both to cool completely before touching, moving or cleaning them.
