Lakota Native American 14" Elk Hide Drum is a beautifully handcrafted ceremonial frame drum, made in the traditional Lakota/Plains style by a skilled artisan trained under an elder Lakota drum maker. Each drum is created with intention, prayer, and ceremony, respecting both the sacred tradition of the drum and the spirit of the elk.

Elk hide is a slightly thicker, more resilient material than deer hide, offering a rich, full tone with deeper resonance and excellent projection. It performs exceptionally well across a range of environmental conditions, making it ideal for European climates where humidity may affect other natural skins. The drum is full wrapped and tightly laced in the sacred four-directional style, allowing for stability in tone and ease of extended use.

The maple frame provides strength and balance, and the hide is chosen specifically for its energetic properties and sound quality. Supplied with a hand-tied natural hide beater, this drum is ideal for personal ceremony, group drumming, energy healing, and shamanic journeying.

Each drum is individually made, so no two are exactly alike, variations in colour, hide texture, and tone are natural and intentional.

Ethically Sourced

The hides used are ethically sourced. The animals are honoured in traditional practice, free roaming, not factory farmed, and never killed solely for drum making. Many hides come from animals that have died naturally or have been harvested with deep respect for their spirit and purpose.

Uses

Ideal for Native American-style ceremonies, personal ritual, drumming circles, energy healing, meditation, and shamanic journeywork.

Care Notes

This is a natural product. Moisture, temperature, and environment can affect the skin’s tone. Store in a cool, dry place. A drum case is recommended to preserve pitch and protect from humidity.
