Imbolc Natural Resin Incense Mix 20g

Fasting • Cleansing • Renewal
(1st February)

Imbolc marks the first subtle stirring of life beneath the frozen ground. The ice begins to melt, the soil turns soft and muddy, and cleansing waters prepare the Earth’s womb for fertility once more. Though winter still holds the land, deep within the darkness seeds begin to germinate and the promise of spring quietly awakens.

This incense is dedicated to Imbolc, the festival of purification, fasting and preparation. Burn it to clear away stagnation, release what no longer serves, and make space—both inwardly and outwardly—for the growth of the coming season.

About Imbolc

Celebrated on 1st February, Imbolc is a threshold festival—the quiet turning point between winter’s grip and spring’s return. The Sun Child is gathering strength; the days lengthen almost imperceptibly, and light and warmth slowly re-enter the world.

Imbolc is traditionally a time of fasting and cleansing. Stores from the previous harvest grow sparse, encouraging simplicity and reflection. It is a moment to clear out old habits, possessions and energies, preparing mind, body and spirit for the renewed vitality of the growing year.

Festival of the Wheel of the Year

In Celtic traditions of Northern Europe, the year was marked by eight sacred festivals—the solstices, equinoxes and cross-quarter days. These celebrations formed the Wheel of the Year, reflecting the cyclical nature of time rather than a linear progression.

The seasonal cycle was envisioned as the sacred story of the Earth Goddess and the Sun Child—their union bringing fertility and abundance, their separation marking decline and rest. At Imbolc, the Goddess begins to quicken with life once more, and hope quietly returns.

The seasonal festivals were communal moments when everyday routines paused and attention turned toward the Gods, the land, and the shifting balance of masculine and feminine forces within nature.

As without, so within. Aligning with seasonal rites can harmonise the soul with the deeper rhythms that still beat within us, even when modern life obscures them.

How to Burn Natural Resin Incense

  1. Place a self-igniting charcoal disc on a fireproof surface or incense burner
  2. Light the edge of the charcoal disc and allow it to spark and crackle
  3. Once fully glowing and covered with grey ash, add a small pinch of Imbolc incense
  4. Refresh as desired by clearing ash and adding more incense

  • Resin incense may mature and deepen with age
  • Keep charcoal discs in an airtight container to prevent moisture absorption
